Subject: Considering the Purchase of a Vanguard 15

Scott,

Jorge hit the nail on the head. I sail my V15 with my kids, 10 and 7 and it is a blast. However, it is a real handfull some nights at TI and the capsize issue is a real concern. When I am with the kids, often I run without the Jib with a length of 4mm Excel Racing standing in for the luff wire. Works fine, for reaching across the cove, but you won't be competitive with the fleet. If your interest is in very exciting, low overhead and friendly racing, the V15 is the way to go. As an introduction to sailing and racing for you wife...It might be too athletic of a boat. Why don't you come out with one of us on a Thursday and get a first hand look. Let me know and you could ride with me and my daughter, or pick up with someone that needs a crew.

:: Hello V15 Owners
::
:: I am considering the purchase of a V15 and would
:: appreciate any feedback on the boat from current owners.
:: I am 50 and in reasonably good shape. As a teenager i
:: sailed a Laser and loved it. Not been sailing since.
:: Looking for something sporty as I will be single handed
:: sailing most of the time but want something that can
:: accommodate two people in hopes I can get my wife
:: involved in time? Is a V15 a good choice or something
:: like a Capri 14.2 better? Appreciate your thoughts.
