The 2008 PCCs were tightly contested, and not just in the final scores. Every mark rounding, every start, was a game of inches.
The first day saw the Emeryville flats course in a battlezone between a light westerly and a fickle southerly. We got three races in on Saturday and then called it quits when the westerly died (again). Or course, as soon as we hit the dock the westerly came in solidly.
The second day we got a solid 15-20 and raced in the cove. The left side of the beat was favored most of the time, but there were races where the right paid. Both teams Beeckman/Stephan and Turnbull/Beard were very consistent with the regatta being decided in the last race. Turnbull/Beard did a 720 after an incident at the weather mark with Archie while Beeckman/Stephan got a bullet.
Thanks to John Super, Pete McCool, Loyd from BVBC and Gabriel for race comittee. Congratulations to Andy Beeckman and Linda Stephan for claiming the 2008 Pacific Coast Championship.
Thanks to West Coast Sailing: http://www.westcoastsailing.net/, for providing prizes. |
