Putting docks in water:

Forklift:
Lay out 2 hoist ties and 2 blocks so that ties can be easily re-positioned underneath dock. Move dock over to hoist on forklift - drive on West side of sail locker, may need to raise very high to clear sail locker. Lower ASAP and reposition while dock is just a few feet from the ground. Dock should be oriented North/South on West side of hoist.

Hoist ties:
For most docks, run ties underneath the flotation towards the ends (closer in towards the middle if the dock is longer so that it doesn’t “taco”). Position in the indentations in the flotation. Then run end through D ring, take out slack, and position D ring in the middle of the dock. Run ends to hoist hook. If the dock is short, double over ends before attaching to hoist.

If dock is upside down, slide the D rings such that they are positioned on the side of the dock, so that it lifts up sideways and can be flipped easily when lowering into the water. You may need several people to help flip down on dock 1.

Attach control lines to either end for maneuvering into water and for temporarily tying on once in water.

Hoist:
Hoist up and over fence, then carefully lower into water next to dock 1 (fig 2). Make sure to push out the lowering dock so it doesn’t get stuck under the one you’re standing on. Then stage the docks on the outside and to the West of dock 2 to keep them out of the way while positioning. If needed, spin dock around so that the side that affixes to the pilings is facing the pier.

Repeat until all docks are in the water, staged around dock 2.

Positioning docks in water:

Attach control lines to dock 1. Separate docks 1 and 2 by removing the connector pin. Tools needed: [insert]. Remove U rings connecting docs 1 to the pier. Tools needed: nuts, washers, wrench.

Dock 1 then slides East under the ramp and partially sticks out the other side. Other docks slide into place. All docks need to be attached to the pilings with the big U rings using 4 washers, nuts, and wrench. They also need to be attached to each other with the big pins, which need to be hammered in [and anything else?].

Does it matter whether U rings or pins connecting docks go on first? - I believe the pins

Extra volunteers may need to stand on the high side of the dock to keep it level while U rings are being attached.
