| SUPER THURSDAY!!!!
Classic end of the season. Shifty wind that turned into a drifter. Started hiking a little for the night but that quickly ended. Trapezoid course make the course look strong starboard favored but, again, it paid to win the port, wait for the breeze and shift and plane allllll the way over the fleet to the mark. Seemed like you sailed 2x's the distance but at 3x the speed. The night belonged to Sessions and Avery who started with a 1,1,2.. and where top 5 till that switch turned of. I've never seen anything like that before. In the matter of about 1-2 mins (serious) the wind went from hiking to nothing. nothing. glass. and switched way north to a huge starboard. The fleet flopped and Jorge 946 was the first to the mark, hit it in excitement, did a circle, and was still leading. Huge convergence at the windward mark where we all waited it out ... but got to see Linda and Natasha's fine display of kinetics up close. Even when we pointed it out, they got in at least 5-6 solid rock and rolls- and you'd think weighing in 100lbs less than the rest of us would be enough! There were a few others that someone got quite a lead in no wind... makes you go hmmm..... Andrea & Andrew finished strong to take night honors - hope to see you more next year. Great to see the full Waypoint team out- under 8 knots, warm, last night- that's the recipe for the Purdy's to show up. It takes some wine to get them to stay though... The Super's did a great job getting the races off in the conditions- very efficient- but I still think the trapezoid is a parade. Super Thursday means Svendsen's night! 2 Kegs, spicy sausages, apple pie, fixin'g.. and of course the now famous Sean's Trivia game. Hat's, shirts, gloves, knives, job sheets, main sheets, 3M products, tape- they gave away a ton of stuff. Thank you Sean- we are very happy to support Svendsen's and to have you part of our fleets!!! well guys, that's it. Scores are posted. End of the Year party Friday before thanksgiving at Bay View Boat Club- expect an email shortly. Vote for top people, think about running for FC, Thursday Co-Chairs, Team Race.. etc... it's our fleet, let's keep it growing! so now... anyone want to get drunk this thursday. We'll all be at STFYC for BBS... |
