Svendsen's Thursday Night #15 at Treasure Island Sailing Center | July 10 |
Story |
When we first got to the parking lot, it was nucing, but it died down to a challenging 10-15 Knots from the west. Large changes in pressure and direction - very puffy. Lots of twice arounds gave long beats to reward those who could connect the puffs upwind. Large gains could also be made downwind by staying in puffs. Solid turnout and a solid fleet with 24 boats. Despite all this, the fleet remained remarkably tight, with several photo-finishes. The 1.5's in race 4 are because the two boats tied for first.
Team Allison/Stemler took the night with nearly straight 3rds, sailing conservatively and staying away from the corners. Dave Siegel was fast as usual but missed the first and last race. For all you #0's out there I paste a link to sail numbers from our fabulous sponsor Svendsen's marine: http://www.svendsensmarine.com/Vanguard_15_Parts_Sails_s/166.htm Congrats to Garth and Katie for getting their first thursday bullet in race 5. Thanks to Sally Madsen and Garth Copenhaver for being social chair - cookies were yummy. Thanks to Super Jr. and Super Sr. for race committee. |
