| What's better that V15 sailing on thursdays??? Not much except.....
SUPER SVENDSENS THURSDAYS! Great night- packed bay. Here's the run down: 27 V15's & 13 Lasers- record v15 night. That's 40 boats and 60 sailors. And the wind isn't steady enough for the 'old guard' to make it out yet either. The goal is one night of 30+ v15 this year... we are almost there already. Wonder what midwest lake sailing is like... last night was it. 15-18knot breeze with 35 degree shifts in velocity. It was far more southerly than normal which made the wind pulse over Yerba Buena vs the funnel. As a result there was a rather large and apparent shift line in the middle of the course ranging roughly 60 degree bearing (for those that can visualize). If you got on the predominant side- huge gains. If on the weak side you watched the whole fleet plane over ya. Hero to zero type of night. We started mostly at the boat and all but once, played the starboard part of the course to mixed results. Harrison and Sessions, sorry Avery (we know who makes all the decisions anyway), played the port side and we all seems to make it here about the same time. 4 races- 2 singles, 2 doubles whcih were nice. Got cold at the end. Highlight's: - very fun to get some breeze again! - I counted 6 tip overs including our current fleet leaders- Tom & Amy and Ken & Rebecca- both of whom retired for the night. - rules review by many on the 'must jib' offset mark - cold night - Welcome back Harry and Kristen... starting off ave 36 pts is a good start. - can't find my sails, who has them??? Svendsen's made the night though! 2 Kegs which we finished np. Sausages and dogs. Lots, lots, lots of give aways including spray tops, watches, gear. SB3 on display and our sailing around. Lots of food. Warm grill and heaters. Solid showing! From all of us- thank you Sean! pay your dues/fees, help up and down, sign up online, be nice. |
