| Yo Yo, here we go again. What a first night! 17 V15's, 8 lasers... solid showing!
When we got there, it looked like the wind was fading fast. That turned out to be wrong. It was smokin' by the end of the night, very fast, very fun. 3 races for v15's, 4 for lasers and we got out and put away just at dusk. Nice way to ease our hiking legs into it. Racing was solid and typical v15 close. Long line and short first beat with the wind slightly northly put the mark near the north shore. This meant the line appeared rather shortened at the boat end and longer at the pin- at least to the none cove sailor! Mr Allison proved it the first 2 races, and when he decided to take a bath before the start of the 3rd, Melanie convinced me to give the port end a try. Tactically, there is a rather apparend shift line that went diagonal across the course. Get to the port weather of it, and you port lifted planing into the mark. Cross the cove below it, and you are fighting shity wind and a knocking, spotty port all the way across, hoping for a strong starboard at the mark. Beauty of the cove! Other highlights: 1) Ken and Rebecca (marking 3 2nds) had like a 30 second rail stand between races- just to show off. 2) someone tipped close to the finish the last race and we all planed and had to dodge around them- rather, ahh, interesting 3) session talked... alot... and proved that it really is all Avery. (seriously avery, ditch him- come sail with me- when melanie can't) 4) I hit Rolf in the rudder, screwed him, did a circle and we both started fine but at the wrong end. I feel bad about that. Accident. sorry - I'll get you back. 5) I think lot of folks went swimming- there were some serious puffs coming down! 6) lot's of new sailor- love it. Welcome! Admin stuff: 1) sign up- do it online.
